Boswell Statement on House Republican Budget

Statement

Date: March 21, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Boswell (IA-3) today released a statement on the House Republican budget proposal for fiscal year 2013.

"The House Republican budget plan continues their desire to benefit the rich at the expense of the middle class while refusing to aid our economic recovery. This budget proposal puts us on a dangerous path that could ultimately hurt our seniors by drastically changing the Medicare guarantee, increasing their age of eligibility, and increasing their premiums by over $1000; jeopardize the health insurance of over 40 million Americans, kill job growth by cutting needed investments in infrastructure and education, while at the same time expanding tax cuts for the very wealthy.

"We must work to reduce our deficit, but it must be a well-balanced, reasoned approach. By slapping a new coversheet on the same old plan that the American people have already rejected, Republicans have shown they are not serious about working together to rebuild the economy or helping more people achieve the American Dream."
